Throughout April 2025, the entire StoCare team enjoyed taking part in Colostomy UK’s Step Up For Stomas Challenge. The goal was to hit 200,000 steps each in ‘Active April’, representing the more than 200,000 people in the UK with a stoma.
We wanted to play our part in enabling Colostomy UK to continue to support ostomates. They provide resources, one-to-one support, advocacy, awareness building and much more, for anyone with any type of stoma. You can find out more about Colostomy UK here. They are a fantastic charity, one that we are already proud to support by sponsoring their rugby team.
To take part, our staff had to make a donation to Colostomy UK and then get their walking shoes on! We had 20 members of the team sign up for the challenge. It got very competitive as we tracked everyone on a leaderboard! The team in the office made the most of the sunny weather to go out for walks at lunch time, making us very grateful for our picturesque surroundings in Whitestake, near Preston.
The team smashed the challenge out of the park, with more than 75% getting their 200,000 steps, for a grand total of 5,612,251 steps across the whole team. Anna, one of our Territory Managers, blew the competition out of the water with a staggering 613,859 steps to top the leaderboard! We are very proud to have raised £400 for Colostomy UK.
Thank you everyone who donated and congratulations to everyone who participated in Active April!
